چکیده
Phenotyping for quantitative resistance to Septoria tritici blotch (STB), one of the most economically devastating diseases durum wheat (Triticum Desf.) in North African region, is a limiting factor breeding progress. Here we tested main phenotypic markers aggressiveness affecting host damage and pathogen reproduction reported earlier studies measuring differences resistance. A collection 11 Tunisian genotypes varying was inoculated by highly aggressive virulent isolate Zymoseptoria replicated field controlled experiments, conducted 2017-2018 at experimental station Regional Field Crops Research Center Beja Tunisia. The severity infection caused Z. isolate, including percentage leaf area covered chlorotic lesions (PLACCL), necrosis (PLACN), pycnidia (PLACP) as well latent period (LP) density (PYCdens) were assessed visually quantified. results showed that there significant all traits on positive correlations obtained between PLACN, PLACP PYCdens. Similarly, negative correlation LP these last traits. found more reliable trait discriminate different classes resistance, consistent with remaining These data suggest using both necrotic (PLACN) bearing PYCdens can improve selection STB

Host Resistance and Temperature-Dependent Evolution of Aggressiveness in the Plant Pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici
Understanding how habitat heterogeneity may affect the evolution of plant pathogens is essential to effectively predict new epidemiological landscapes and manage genetic diversity under changing global climatic conditions. In this study, we explore the effects of habitat heterogeneity, as determined by variation in host resistance and local temperature, on the evolution of Zymoseptoria tritici ...
متن کاملQTL mapping reveals complex genetic architecture of quantitative virulence in the wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici
We conducted a comprehensive analysis of virulence in the fungal wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici using QTL mapping. High throughput phenotyping based on automated image analysis allowed measurement of pathogen virulence on a scale and with a precision that was not previously possible. Across two mapping populations encompassing more than 520 progeny, 540,710 pycnidia were counted and their ...
متن کاملSeasonal Changes Drive Short-Term Selection for Fitness Traits in the Wheat Pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici.
In a cross-infection experiment, we investigated how seasonal changes can affect adaptation patterns in a Zymoseptoria tritici population. The fitness of isolates sampled on wheat leaves at the beginning and at the end of a field epidemic was assessed under environmental conditions (temperature and host stage) to which the local pathogen population was successively exposed. Isolates of the fina...

We examine the contribution of next generation sequencing (NGS) to our understanding of the interaction between the fungal pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici and its wheat host. Recent interspecific whole genome comparisons between Z. tritici and its close relatives provide evidence that Z. tritici has undergone strong adaptive evolution, which is attributed to specialization by Z. tritici on wheat....
